It uses the recipes that you already have on your blog, and the categories that you have defined. To use, follow the instructions on the admin page (Settings->Visual Recipe Index) to generate shortcodes to paste onto a page of your choice to display your recipe index. If you download Visual Recipe Index manually, make sure it is uploaded to „/wp-content/plugins/visual-recipe-index/“. Activate Visual Recipe Index in the „Plugins“ admin panel using the „Activate“ link. You can now create your recipe index via the instructions on the Settings->Visual Recipe Index page. ## FAQ ### Can I style this with css? Yes, everything should be fully styleable. If you find something that isn’t please contact the developer via the support forums and I’ll see what I can do. ### How are the images resized? Visual Recipe Index now uses WordPress‘ built-in image sizes so thumbnails are generated by the core media library instead of the legacy TimThumb script. ### Why aren’t my images showing? Verify that each recipe has a featured image set (or at least one image inside the post content) and that you are running WordPress‘ background thumbnail generation. It does exactly what it says it does. I love that it is automated. I do wish it had an automated list feature though. I also wish that I could split each category into pages. Right now I am only using this plugin to showcase my recipes in a view all page. I had to create a different way to showcase my recipes on individual pages so that there can be more than one page. I personally hate scrolling down a long list. At least with my view all page I can add more pages, but I am not sure how that will look with only a few categories on one page, and more on another. Another plus of this plugin is it loads quickly! Before I had thumbnails that took awhile to load, or loaded in the wrong size unless you refreshed the page.
